Heirloom Plant Sale

The General's Ladies will hold their 7th Annual Heirloom Plant Sale on Saturday, May 11 from 8am - 12pm on the Dodge House front porch. Several types of heirloom flowers and vegetables will be available for purchase. Many of your favorite varieties will return - be here at 8am sharp (please no early sales) for the best selection of vegetables and flowers! For the second year, the Gibraltar Neighborhood Association will join the sale and offer perennials from local gardens, many of which were started several decades ago!

ANNUAL GARDEN WALK

The General's Ladies will host their 21st Annual Garden Walk on Saturday, June 22 from 11am to 2pm. We know you will enjoy the beautiful gardens as you stroll through the Gibraltar Neighborhood. Refreshments will be served on the front porch of the Dodge House, from 2 - 3PM.

The Historic General Dodge House

In the fall of 1961, the house of General Grenville M. Dodge was designated a National Historic Landmark. This special honor was bestowed upon the home of General GM Dodge, not because of the house itself, but rather because of the man who lived in it. To achieve this designation the site must have local, state, and national significance. The General's home was not only the first national landmark in Council Bluffs, but is the only National Historic Landmark in the city. Currently there are 24 National Historic Landmarks in Iowa; the Historic General Dodge house has the distinction of being the second site in the state of Iowa to receive this honor.
